Wallpaper Engine
What it is
Wallpaper Engine is a Windows app for live desktop wallpapers, with tools to create wallpapers from images, videos, and websites. Its editor can animate still images and includes community assets, customizable elements, SceneScript, and a particle systems editor. The Steam Workshop offers hundreds of thousands of wallpapers for free. Display support includes all monitor resolutions and aspect ratios, including ultrawide displays and multi-monitor setups. The app can pause or disable wallpapers while games or maximized apps are running; notebooks can also pause them when switched to battery power. It can control Corsair iCUE and Razer Chroma RGB hardware to match lighting to a wallpaper. A free Android companion wirelessly transfers a wallpaper collection from Windows and requires Android 10 or newer, but it cannot access the Workshop directly. Steam is needed for wallpaper downloads, uploads, and updates, while core functions work without Steam running in the background. The Windows app costs $4.99, paid once.
