TraceRoot
What it is
TraceRoot is an open-source layer for AI agents that monitors production behavior and helps investigate and address failures. Its detectors scan traces for hallucinations, incorrect tool calls, broken logic, and lost user intent. When one triggers, TraceRoot analyzes the likely cause and can send findings and fixes through Slack or email. Agents work in an isolated sandbox with access to traces, GitHub history, and production source code; they can open fix pull requests and resolve GitHub issues and Linear tickets. Python and JavaScript/TypeScript SDKs, OpenTelemetry compatibility, and integrations with agent frameworks and model providers are listed. Dashboards show trace counts, costs, token use, latency, and recent failures. The Free plan includes 50,000 events per month, 15-day retention, and limited chat, root-cause analysis, and detector runs. Starter costs $30 a month, and Pro costs $200 a month. Enterprise pricing is custom. TraceRoot runs on the web, and bring-your-own-key is supported on all plans.
For and against
For
- Detectors flag hallucinations and incorrect tool calls.
- Agents can open fix pull requests.
- Supports Python and JavaScript/TypeScript SDKs.
- Dashboards include cost, token, and latency details.
Against
- Free plan limits retention to 15 days.
- Starter costs $30 a month.
- SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA, and ISO 27001 are in progress.
The verdict
TraceRoot combines trace monitoring with sandboxed investigation and fix workflows. Free, Starter, Pro, and custom-priced Enterprise options provide different usage limits and support levels.
Who it suits
