Teoria
What it is
Teoria is a free resource for studying music theory and practicing aural skills. Its tutorials, reference material and exercises cover reading music, intervals, scales, chords, harmonic functions and musical forms. Ear-training activities include melodic dictation, recognizing keys and notes, and identifying harmonic progressions. Exercises use HTML5 and JavaScript and are described as compatible with tablets and mobile devices, subject to browser requirements. Most exercises can accept MIDI keyboard answers in supported browsers, including Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Opera at listed minimum versions. Signing in is optional; signed-in users can save exercise scores, review progress and activity, and filter or download records as PDF or TSV files. Teoria cautions that saved scores may not be retained indefinitely and older data may be removed due to space constraints. Users can create links with preset exercise options and share them by email, websites, learning platforms or social media. Exercises are available in English, Catalan, German, Dutch, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese and Chinese.
