What it is
Talon Voice is a hands-free computer input application for writing, coding, browsing, and gaming. It runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux through X11, and includes a free speech-recognition engine that also works with Dragon without additional setup. Users can add custom vocabulary, create voice commands, global hotkeys, settings, and application-specific behavior in .talon files. One utterance can chain several commands. Python files and embedded CPython provide extensions without requiring Python on the host computer. Talon supports eye-controlled mouse input with compatible Tobii 4C, Tobii 5, or equivalent trackers, and its guide describes recognizing sounds such as pops and hisses. The hybrid privacy model uses TLS for app-to-service communication; usage metrics do not record input, speech, text, or screen contents. Talon is free, while Talon+ is listed at $155 a month when billed annually. Wayland support is not planned.
