Simple Backup
What it is
Simple Backup is a free, open-source utility for backing up Minecraft Java server worlds. It creates automatic backups at configurable intervals and supports ZIP archives, TAR.LZ4 archives, and direct directory copies. Backups run asynchronously to reduce their effect on game performance, and automatic runs can pause when no players are online. Operators can limit retained backups and block new ones when available disk space is too low. Manual commands can start a general backup, ZIP archive, LZ4 archive, or directory copy; the required permission level is configurable and defaults to level 4. Backups are stored in a game-directory backup folder by default, with an option for an absolute system path. The mod is required only on the server, needs Fabric API, and lists Fabric and Quilt loader support. ZIP uses deflate compression at level 5, described as slower to compress than LZ4. LZ4 files use `.tar.lz4` and require two extraction steps to recover files. The project links to GitHub issues for support.
