Scanopy
What it is
Scanopy is network discovery and documentation software that maps hosts, services, and network topology from scans. It produces Physical (L2), Logical (L3), Workloads, and Applications views, then refreshes documentation on a schedule rather than continuously polling the network. Discovery uses one daemon on the network and does not require agents on individual endpoints. Listed integrations include Docker, Podman, Instant On, UniFi Controller, gNMI, and SNMP; Instant On and gNMI are marked beta. Depending on plan, teams can export or share diagrams through formats and destinations including PNG, SVG, HTML, PDF, Mermaid, Confluence, CSV, and embeddable diagrams. API access is listed on paid plans, with a documented limit of 300 requests per minute. The free Community Edition is self-hosted, open source under AGPL-3.0, and has no time restriction, but is limited to one network and one seat. Paid plans start at $11.99 a month billed yearly. Cloud stores topology and account data on US-hosted infrastructure, while self-hosted discovery data stays in the customer's database. Scanopy documents assets and connections; it does not replace monitoring tools for device health, bandwidth, or alerts.
For and against
For
- Maps hosts, services, and network topology
- No endpoint agents are required
- Free Community Edition has no time restriction
- Multiple export and diagram-sharing options, depending on plan
Against
- Scheduled scans do not continuously poll the network
- Free Community Edition allows one network and one seat
- Does not replace monitoring for health, bandwidth, or alerts
- Instant On and gNMI integrations are beta
The verdict
Scanopy focuses on mapping and documenting network assets and connections, with a self-hosted free edition and paid options. Choose it for scheduled discovery, not as a replacement for operational monitoring.
Who it suits
Scanopy is presented for homelabs, IT operations, MSPs, security and compliance teams, and platform and DevOps teams. It may suit people who need network maps and documentation rather than device-health or bandwidth monitoring.
