RPGMaker Save Editor
What it is
RPGMaker Save Editor (RMSE) is a free, open-source utility for editing save files from RPG Maker MV and RPG Maker MZ. It runs on Linux, macOS, and Windows, with a Node.js backend and Electron graphical interface. You can open saves by dragging them from a file browser or selecting them in a file dialog. RMSE edits items, armor, weapons, and character stats, while inventory entries can be added from a dropdown. Character editing applies only to characters in the active party. For values the editor does not interpret, including custom-plugin data, you can export raw save JSON, edit it manually, and load it again. Before overwriting a save, RMSE creates a backup and retains the five newest copies in a .rmse_backups folder beside the saves. Save files must stay inside the game directory, although exported JSON can be stored elsewhere. Setup requires cloning the repository, installing dependencies with npm, and running npm start.
