Retra
What it is
Retra is a free Android app for Game Boy Advance emulation, patching, and local game-save management. It uses a native mGBA libretro core, with a library that supports grid and list views, search, and filters for favorites, patches, homebrew, and unplayed games. The app imports .gba, .zip, .ups, .ips, and .bps files and can apply UPS, IPS, and BPS patches to compatible base files provided by the user. It intentionally rejects Nintendo DS .nds files. Save tools include local saves, automatic backups, a timeline, save health information, screenshots, and rewind; controls include touch, keyboard, and gamepad, with analog and dead-zone calibration. Retra says ROMs, saves, screenshots, and settings remain on the device, with optional Google account linking for identity personalization. A fresh install includes Retra Drift, an original 64 KiB homebrew mini-game. Commercial ROMs are not included, and users must supply compatible backups they are entitled to use. Listed APK releases are sideload test builds rather than Play Store releases. Cloud synchronization and cross-device conflict resolution are not release-ready systems.
