Rapid-Mosaic
Grafenau, Germany
What it is
Rapid-Mosaic creates a large photo mosaic from many smaller photos, using either its online service or downloadable Windows software. Mosaic styles include Classic, Parquet, Detail, and Chaos. A preview lets users compare variations and adjust tile size and blending with the original image. The online preview is free, and its settings can be changed before choosing whether to order a print or purchase a high-resolution JPG download. The free Standard Windows software creates mosaics locally without uploading source photos. Professional software adds JPG saving, multicore support, and 64-bit support; it costs £29.00 once, including sales tax. The online service accepts uploads from smartphones, tablets, PCs, and Macs, but the downloadable software does not work with Mac OS X or Linux. The maker says uploaded images and related data can be deleted manually or are automatically removed after a year without website access. Print and order data are retained longer for quality assurance, reordering, and legal traceability.
