Puter AI Builder
What it is
Puter AI Builder turns a plain-English description into a working app or website, displays it in a live preview, can repair runtime errors, and publishes it to a public URL. You can ask for edits in ordinary language or select a preview element and describe the change. Each turn is saved as a snapshot that can be restored. Projects can include images, logos, PDFs, CSVs, and text files for the builder to read.
Built projects can use Puter.js for key-value and file storage, Puter account sign-in, AI models, and serverless workers. The builder supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP, including public servers and servers using a bearer token; OAuth sign-in and local servers are not supported yet. Projects export as a zip of standard HTML, CSS, and JavaScript with no build step. One-click publishing hosts an app at its own public puter.site address, and it can be unpublished immediately. The builder is open source under Apache 2.0 and can run locally or on a user's server, though its default AI and cloud services require internet access and a Puter account. The Free plan is free with a Puter account and no card required.
For and against
For
- Creates apps or websites from plain-English descriptions
- Snapshots let users restore earlier versions
- Exports standard HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Can publish or unpublish a public app
- Free plan requires no card
Against
- Published app users need their own Puter accounts
- Heavy use can reach account free-tier limits
- OAuth sign-in and local MCP servers are unsupported
- Generated code needs review before handling money or personal data
The verdict
Puter AI Builder supports a path from description to editable project, export, or public hosting. Consider its integration limits and code review guidance when deciding whether it fits your project.
Who it suits
Puter AI Builder may suit founders, professionals making tools for their work, developers seeking an editable starting point, and teams adapting the builder. It is less suited to strict compliance needs or unusual integrations without developer involvement.
