Germany
What it is
NiloShift is a Windows desktop application for moving user profiles between computers and backing up personal data. It exports files from Desktop, Documents, Pictures, and Downloads, plus browser profiles from Chrome, Edge, and Firefox. Browser exports can include bookmarks, passwords, and browsing history; Outlook exports can include signatures and templates. The project says data stays on the computer and exported files are saved as password-protected, AES-256-GCM-encrypted .nilo packages. When restoring, users can select items, let the application detect package contents, and choose a target Windows profile. NiloShift supports user profile migration and selective transfer, but not application or settings migration. It requires Windows 10 version 1903 or later, at least 4 GB RAM, 500 MB free storage plus room for data, and administrator rights for full functionality. Downloads include an MSI installer and a portable executable. The Non-commercial plan is free under the MIT License for non-commercial use; commercial licensing is available by contacting [email protected].

The verdict
NiloShift focuses on user-profile data rather than application or settings migration. Its encrypted packages and selective restore controls give users options for handling what they transfer.
Who it suits
NiloShift may suit Windows users who need to move profile data or make encrypted exports of selected files, browser information, and Outlook items. It is not for migrating applications or settings.
