nChronos is Colasoft’s application-centric network performance analysis system for continuous packet capture, storage, data mining, and traffic analysis. Its client/server design places capture, analysis, and storage on a Linux server, while a console and web browser provide access to server data and configuration. The server can capture traffic through a network mirror port or link tap and retain packets for later investigation of network and application problems. Real-time network statistics and user-defined alerts help track network events. System and custom reports can be emailed on hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly schedules. Users can define application and transaction monitoring, with profiles for HTTP, FTP, email, and DNS. nChronos replays packet files including libpcap formats used by Wireshark, Ethereal, and Tcpdump, plus vendor formats.
