Lunar IPS
What it is
Lunar IPS is a free Windows utility for creating and applying IPS patches, intended as a lightweight replacement for the SNESTool DOS program. It supports full RLE encoding and decoding, expands or truncates files, and can create an application log named ROMFileName.log. Its encoder produces files no larger than SNESTool’s and avoids the rare 0x454F46 EOF offset bug attributed to that encoder. Windows file association lets users register .IPS files for double-click patching. IPS patching supports files up to 16 MB because the format uses 24-bit addressing; an IPS file itself may be larger. Logging and registration settings are stored in the Windows registry. The listed release is version 1.03, updated February 2, 2022, with a 172K zipped and 437K unzipped archive. Minimum systems are Windows 95 (32-bit) and Windows XP 64-bit. Command-line support and Croatian, Dutch, German, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, and Swedish versions are listed.
