Kopia
What it is
Kopia is free, open-source backup and restore software for encrypted snapshots of selected files and directories. Snapshots are incremental, and content deduplication avoids saving duplicate file content more than once in a repository. Policies can schedule snapshots and define exclusions, retention, and compression. Recovery options include mounting a snapshot as a local disk, restoring a complete snapshot to a chosen location, or restoring individual files. Kopia encrypts data and filenames before they leave the machine, supporting AES-256 and ChaCha20. Storage can use Amazon S3 and compatible services, Azure Blob Storage, Backblaze B2, Google Cloud Storage, WebDAV, SFTP, local or network storage, and some Rclone providers. Rclone support is experimental. CLI and GUI interfaces are available, along with optional server mode and an API for managing backups across machines. KopiaUI provides a web interface in server mode. Packages support Windows 10 or later, macOS 10.11 or later, and Linux. Users provide and pay for storage separately.
