Heym
What it is
Heym is infrastructure for building, operating and governing AI agents and workflows in production. Teams can assemble workflows on a visual canvas, or describe them by text or voice for an AI assistant to generate. An orchestrator can assign work to named sub-agents and sub-workflows through five nesting levels. Retrieval supports managed Qdrant or built-in Postgres with pgvector, document uploads, semantic search and optional Cohere reranking. Human-in-the-loop checkpoints can pause execution while a reviewer accepts, edits or refuses a step. Heym records traces containing prompts, responses, tool calls, timing and token use, and includes evaluation features. Listed connections include OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, Slack, Discord, Gmail, Outlook, GitHub, Jira, Telegram, Notion, Qdrant, Redis, RabbitMQ, Google Sheets and MCP. Deployment can be self-hosted with Docker Compose or Kubernetes on infrastructure you control. The site describes AES-256 Fernet encryption for stored credentials and JWT authentication with HttpOnly cookies and refresh-token rotation. The source-available project is free to use, modify and distribute, but not to resell as a paid service.
For and against
For
- Free to use with no licensing fees or usage limits

- Human checkpoints allow accept, edit or refuse
- Self-host with Docker Compose or Kubernetes
- Broad integrations across AI and business tools
Against
- Cannot be resold as a paid service
- Community help is through Discord
- Enterprise services may be paid
- Self-hosting requires infrastructure you control
The verdict
Heym combines workflow construction, agent orchestration, retrieval, approvals and execution visibility in a self-hostable package. Its licensing restriction and reliance on user-managed deployment matter for teams planning commercial offerings or hosted operations.
Who it suits
Heym is aimed at AI, platform and automation teams building production workflows. It fits organizations that want visual or natural-language workflow creation, approvals, traces and self-hosted deployment.
