What it is
Google Cloud SQL is a fully managed cloud relational database service for MySQL, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server. It supports automated backups, point-in-time restoration, high availability, read replicas, and scaling. The service supports popular open-source and commercial database engines, extensions, configuration flags, and developer tools, and integrates with Google Cloud products including Compute Engine, Cloud Run, Google Kubernetes Engine, Cloud IAM, BigQuery, and Datastream.
Database Migration Service can move databases from on-premises systems, Compute Engine, or other clouds. Cloud SQL encrypts data in transit on Google’s internal networks and at rest, and supports private VPC connectivity and network firewalls. The dedicated trial provides PostgreSQL and MySQL Enterprise Plus instances for 30 days without automatic charges, followed by a 90-day stopped state. Pricing is paid from $0.04 per month, and there is no free plan. MySQL use is limited to the InnoDB storage engine.
