What it is
Folio is a web-based photography platform for storing, organizing, publishing, sharing, and delivering photos. Clients can open shared galleries and download images without an account or app. Photographers can add passwords, expiry dates, separate controls for individual and ZIP downloads, and EXIF visibility settings. Proof galleries support text or image watermarks, and final files can replace proofs without changing the gallery link. Selected galleries may be public, private, or unlisted within one account. Lite and higher plans support custom domains for portfolio pages and gallery links after DNS verification. The free plan includes 10 GB storage, one portfolio, unlimited galleries, and one watermark preset, but it cannot be used for ongoing commercial client delivery. Lite costs $9.90 a month and Pro costs $25 a month; both paid plans list a 14-day trial. Folio says photos are encrypted before storage, encrypted in transit and at rest, remain the user’s property, and are not used to train AI or machine-learning models.
