FARO RevEng
What it is
FARO RevEng is paid Windows software for creating and editing meshes and CAD surfaces from 3D point clouds. It is designed for reverse-engineering, further design, 3D printing, industrial design, product engineering, and historic preservation. RevEng supports FARO ScanArms, the 8-Axis Quantum ScanArm, and listed Design ScanArm models, along with point-cloud and mesh file imports. Tools include automatic mesh repair, adjustment, smoothing, fitting, and a Sketch Tool that creates editable NURBS surfaces from point clouds. Hole filling, simplification, offsets, and shell tools help prepare watertight meshes for printing. The software supports real-time capture, virtual-machine installation, and remote desktop access. Exports include point-cloud formats, common mesh formats, and STEP. Pricing is available on request, with no free plan, while FARO offers a fully functional 30-day trial. A license is complimentary with a new FARO CAM2 Scan Professional or CAM2 Expert purchase. Recommended requirements include Windows 10 or 11 64-bit, an Intel Core i7-equivalent processor, 16 GB RAM, and 1 GB free disk space.
