east-tec DisposeSecure
East-Tec lists its European headquarters in Oradea, Romania.
What it is
east-tec DisposeSecure erases hard drives, selected partitions and connected external drives before computers are resold, donated or retired. The maker says its wiping methods meet or exceed the U.S. Department of Defense 5220.22-M standard and other military, government and industrial standards. It can boot from USB, CD, DVD, floppy or a local network, operating independently of the installed system. A Windows module erases detected non-system drives and partitions, including USB drives, memory cards and optical media. Over a local network, multiple computers can be wiped and reports sent to a server; reports can also be saved locally for auditing. The DisposeSecure Plan covers up to 10 PCs and includes one year of updates and support. Pricing lists $29.50 per month for DisposeSecure and $29.50 per year for the DisposeSecure Plan. A fully functional 15-day trial is available. Bootable-disk downloads list hard drives up to 1 TB.
