Dogear
What it is
Dogear is a speed-reading trainer for iOS that checks comprehension after each passage. It offers two reading modes: RSVP, which presents words one by one, and guided highlighting over regular text. Readers can set a pace from 100 to 900 words per minute; the app identifies the fastest pace at which comprehension remains at least 80%. You can paste articles, notes, or book excerpts from the clipboard, and Dogear saves your place. Progress tools include a daily-goal ring, a seven-day streak strip, and charts that pair pace with comprehension. Controls include a countdown, scrubber, rewind, short word chunks, haptics, font and text-size options, bold word starts, punctuation pauses, and pivot guides. On supported iPhones, Apple’s on-device model can generate passages and quizzes; other devices use built-in practice material without sending user text. Dogear says it collects no personal data and requires no account. It works offline. The App Store listing requires iOS 26 or later and also lists iPadOS 26, macOS 26 on Apple silicon, and visionOS 26 compatibility.
