DevZero
What it is
DevZero is a Kubernetes optimization platform for platform engineers, DevOps teams managing multiple clusters, and engineering leaders tracking cloud spending. Its operators inspect cluster resource use and can recommend or apply changes to workload resources, replica counts, and node capacity. The quickstart covers Amazon EKS, Google GKE, Microsoft AKS, Oracle OKE, and self-managed or on-premises clusters. GPU nodes can report GPU metrics, while the Pro plan adds GPU infrastructure optimization. A Security Operator checks image vulnerabilities, Kubernetes configuration problems, RBAC issues, and compliance with CIS, NSA, and Pod Security Standards. Alerts can go to Slack or webhooks, and Terraform and Pulumi providers support infrastructure-as-code management. DevZero says its Read Operator collects resource and workload metadata, not secrets, environment variables, or application data. The service reports SOC 2 Type II certification, mTLS in transit, AES-256 at rest, US processing and storage, and an EU region option. Plans include Free at no cost, Pro at $5 a month billed monthly, and Enterprise pricing not listed.
For and against
For

- Security checks cover vulnerabilities and RBAC
- Slack and webhook alert channels
- Terraform and Pulumi providers
- Free plan with unlimited clusters
Against
- In-place scaling requires Kubernetes 1.33 or newer
- Some changes require rolling restarts
- Pro costs $5 a month
The verdict
DevZero combines workload optimization, security scanning, integrations, and an inference gateway for Kubernetes operations. Its free tier offers unlimited clusters, while paid support and longer retention require higher plans.
