Cosmoner Container Registry
What it is
Cosmoner Container Registry is a managed private registry backed by Amazon ECR for storing container images used by apps. Developers can push and pull images from a laptop or CI setup with Docker and a Cosmoner API key. Images in a project registry appear in the Apps image deployment flow, where deployments authenticate without a pull secret. Scanning on push is enabled by default and checks images for known vulnerabilities. Images are encrypted with AES256 by default; repositories created afterward can use a customer KMS key. Repositories start private, while public ones require a monthly egress cap and return to private when it is reached. Retention settings can preserve a chosen number of recent images and expire untagged images after a selected number of days. The service lists nine regions across North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific, but a registry’s region cannot be changed after creation. Uploads are free; the registry fee is $1 a month, storage is $0.25 per GB per month, and egress is $0.15 per GB per month after the first 10 GB per organization per billing period.
For and against
For
- Image uploads are never charged.
- Push-time scanning checks for known vulnerabilities.
- AES256 encryption is enabled by default.
- Retention settings can expire untagged images.
- API supports repository, image, and retention management.
Against
- Registry regions cannot be changed after creation.
- Image deployments run as a single instance.
- Image deployments cannot scale out or autoscale.
- Storage, egress, and registry fees are billed separately.
The verdict
Cosmoner Container Registry combines private image storage with scanning, encryption, retention controls, and a Cosmoner deployment flow. Consider the fixed region and single-instance deployment limit, as well as separate storage and egress charges.
Who it suits
This registry is suited to developers and teams that store app container images and deploy them through Cosmoner. Its Docker access, API, scanning, and retention controls may be useful for laptop or CI workflows.
