Cortado
Sankt Augustin, Germany
What it is
Cortado is an open-source, end-user process-mining application for interactive and incremental process discovery. It imports event logs in XES format and initial process models in PTML format. A variant explorer lets users inspect event-log behavior visually and select what to analyze. From selected behavior, Cortado can discover an initial process model, then extend it incrementally with additional selected behavior. Models may also be edited manually while under construction. Discovered models can be exported as PTML or PNML files. The application supports temporal performance analysis both with a model and independently of one, and includes conformance checking. Cortado uses a self-hosted deployment model. Its frontend is an Angular web application embedded in an Electron executable, backed by Python. Standalone builds are listed for Windows 10/11, Linux, and macOS on Apple Silicon only. The repository lists GPL-3.0 licensing and provides help pages inside the tool. The releases page identifies version 1.12.1 as latest, dated June 25. Administrator rights may be required to run it.
For and against
For
- Interactive event-log exploration
- Incremental model discovery
- Manual model editing
- PTML and PNML export
- Conformance checking
Against
- macOS builds require Apple Silicon
- Administrator rights may be required
- Self-hosted deployment
The verdict
Cortado combines visual event-log exploration with incremental model construction and analysis. Its platform listings and possible administrator requirement should be checked before deployment.
Who it suits
Cortado suits process-mining users who need to explore event logs and build models incrementally. It also fits teams comfortable with self-hosted desktop deployments.
