BirdCull
What it is
BirdCull is desktop software for choosing stronger images from bird-photography burst sequences on Windows and macOS. It groups similar photos and scores candidates using head and eye visibility, sharpness, pose, and differences within each burst. AI-assisted culling and RAW preview are supported. Results can be exported as grouped hard-link folders or star-rated XMP sidecars for Lightroom, Bridge, Photo Mechanic, and similar tools. Processing stays on the user’s computer; BirdCull does not upload photo files, paths, or EXIF metadata. The free trial processes up to 200 photos per capture date. A full license costs $49 as a one-time purchase, covers one user, and includes batch processing beyond the trial limit, folder rating output, star XMP output, and email support. Windows support is 64-bit Windows 10 or 11. The current Mac package targets Apple silicon M-series Macs. For large photo days, 16 GB or more RAM, SSD storage, and local drives are recommended.
