Atlas Studio
What it is
Atlas Studio is a free, open-source Roblox Studio plugin for procedural terrain generation through a visual node graph. Its documented library contains 56 nodes for generators, terrain shaping, erosion, materials, and output. The workspace previews height, material, and slope, with an optional 3D mesh preview. Paint Mask nodes provide a dockable canvas for local edits to those views. Built-in recipes include Temperate Forest, Rolling Grassland, Rocky Highlands, and Island / Coast. Projects save the node graph, map bounds, seed, preview resolution, paint masks, environment settings, and build history with the current Roblox place, allowing reuse. Final builds write native Roblox terrain in chunks on the 4-stud voxel grid and fill empty voxels below the water plane with water. Building clears all of Workspace.Terrain first. Preview resolution changes interactive previews only. Atlas installs from the Roblox Creator Store and opens inside Roblox Studio.
For and against
For
- Free and open source
- 56 documented terrain and output nodes
- Previews height, material, slope, and optional 3D mesh
- Projects save with the Roblox place
- Paint masks support local terrain edits
Against
- Building clears all Workspace.Terrain
- Final terrain uses Roblox’s 4-stud voxel grid
- No roads, structures, or vegetation placement
- Large regions require more memory and time
The verdict
Atlas Studio provides a focused procedural terrain workflow inside Roblox Studio, with reusable projects, recipes, previews, and masks. Its output and scope stay centered on Roblox terrain rather than broader scene placement.
Who it suits
It suits Roblox creators who want reusable, node-based procedural terrain and painted local adjustments. It is less suitable for workflows requiring roads, structures, landmarks, model placement, or vegetation placement.
