Apache Hue
What it is
Apache Hue is a free, open-source SQL assistant for databases and data warehouses that runs as a self-hosted installation. Its SQL Editor offers autocomplete, risk alerts, and self-service troubleshooting. Users can chart query results or export them as CSV or XLS, send them to cluster storage, or save them to a table. Hue also includes a Notebook mode for light programming snippets and dashboards for visualizing indexed data and querying SQL databases. Documented connectors include Hive, Impala, Presto, Flink SQL, Spark SQL, PostgreSQL, Redshift, BigQuery, and Snowflake, among others. Table and storage browsers use existing data catalog information to help people find data across databases. Queries can be shared with permissions, and administrators configure database and warehouse connectors for users. The site also describes a Slack app for query assistance, link previews, and sharing from the Editor. Deployment instructions cover Docker and Helm on Kubernetes. Documentation includes SAML single sign-on, HTTPS configuration, and a REST API.
