AccessLint
What it is
AccessLint checks applications during development, on pull requests, and on live sites to identify accessibility issues. Its zero-dependency WCAG engine has 95 rules and a stated 53ms median audit across 5,000 real-world sites. Pull-request reviews examine changed files and post inline comments with the relevant rule and a suggested fix, but they do not fail builds or block merges. Deploy-triggered scans require Starter or Pro, run asynchronously, and do not synchronously fail builds. Saved user journeys can run daily, with email alerts for new violations or changes from a baseline. The toolkit provides checks for Playwright, Vitest, and Storybook; pull-request reviews use a GitHub App. Starter and higher plans include shareable, read-only evidence reports with before-and-after screenshots of affected elements. The free plan includes public-repository pull-request reviews, one monitored flow with daily runs, and violation trends. Starter costs $19 a month; Pro costs $349 a month. AccessLint says automated checks cannot by themselves make a site compliant.
For and against
For
- Checks pull requests and live sites.
- Provides inline comments with suggested fixes.
- Daily monitored flows can alert on new violations.
- Starter and higher plans include evidence reports.
Against
- Pull-request reviews do not block merges.
- Deploy-triggered scans require Starter or Pro.
- Deploy-triggered scans do not synchronously fail builds.
- Automated checks alone do not make a site compliant.
The verdict
AccessLint offers development checks, pull-request feedback, and daily monitoring, with evidence reports on Starter and higher plans. Its scans are informative rather than build-blocking, and automated checks cannot establish compliance on their own.
Who it suits
AccessLint suits development teams that want accessibility checks during code changes and ongoing monitoring of saved user journeys. Teams needing build-blocking scans should note that its reviews and deploy-triggered scans do not synchronously fail builds.
