What it is
ABYSS 2 is a synthesizer plugin for musicians and creative sound design. Its sound engine arranges tone colours on a gradient, allowing sounds to evolve as you move through it. Dropping samples onto the gradient extracts spectral tone-colours, while audio files or folders can be turned into custom palettes. The instrument includes more than 400 presets, including more than 200 entirely new and more than 200 upgraded sounds. A modular effects engine provides four slots and 20 modules, and a poly-rhythmic sequencer adds rhythmic control. MPE is supported. ABYSS 2 runs as AU, VST3, or AAX plugins on macOS and Windows; it is not a standalone app. Dawesome emphasizes DAW parameter automation rather than MIDI Learn. A free trial needs no email or registration, but occasional mild vinyl-like crackle begins after three days. Activation uses a serial number inside the plugin, without separate software. Purchased copies can be activated on up to three computers. Direct purchases use FastSpring, and Tracktion is another purchase route.
