Zymtrace
Wilmington, Delaware, United States
What it is
Zymtrace profiles CPU and GPU workloads to identify performance bottlenecks in AI training and inference. Its whole-system CPU profiler supports Python, Java, Go, Rust, C/C++, Node.js, Ruby, .NET, PHP, Perl, Zig, and Scala. GPU profiling correlates CPU and GPU execution and analyzes CUDA kernels, GPU instructions, and stall reasons. Monitoring includes utilization, memory, power, temperature, SM efficiency, SM occupancy, Tensor Core utilization, and data-transfer rates. Listed inference engines include vLLM, Ollama, llama.cpp, and SGLang. Zymtrace is currently limited to Linux because it relies heavily on eBPF, and Windows is not supported. Plans are self-hosted; the maker says data stays within the customer’s infrastructure, with air-gapped deployments processing everything locally. Each instance provides a REST API, and profiling data can be exposed through MCP for AI agents. OpenTelemetry resource attributes and standard-format export are supported. Basic costs nothing forever, with CPU profiling for up to five concurrent machines, GPU profiling trial access, and community support.
For and against
For
- CPU and GPU profiling
- Broad language support
- CUDA and inference-engine analysis
- Self-hosted and air-gapped options
- REST API, MCP, and OpenTelemetry
Against
- Linux only because of eBPF reliance
- Windows is not supported
- Basic limits CPU profiling to five machines
- No continuous alerts
The verdict
Zymtrace combines whole-system CPU analysis with detailed GPU profiling for AI workloads.
Who it suits
Zymtrace suits AI and systems teams profiling Linux CPU and GPU workloads. It is also relevant to organizations requiring self-hosted or air-gapped analysis and machine-readable integrations.
