VuePress
What it is
VuePress is a free, MIT-licensed static site generator for documentation, blogs, and other static sites. It centers authoring on Markdown: pages become HTML during the build and are processed as Vue components, allowing templates, components, and dynamic content inside Markdown. VuePress pre-renders pages as static HTML, then the loaded site operates as a single-page application. Its default theme is optimized for technical documentation and includes header search, configurable navigation and sidebars, and Algolia Search support. Built-in Markdown capabilities include tables of contents, custom containers, line highlighting and numbering, imported code snippets, GitHub Flavored Markdown tables, and strikethrough. Vite and Webpack are supported without extra bundler configuration. VuePress offers an official plugin API, official plugins, and community plugins published on npm. Deployment guidance covers GitHub Pages, GitLab Pages, Firebase, Heroku, Netlify, and Vercel. Setup requires Node.js v20.9.0 or newer and a package manager.
