VMware Tanzu Platform
What it is
VMware Tanzu Platform is a self-hosted platform as a service for delivering and managing applications. Developers can use a “cf push” workflow to move code toward production without handling underlying infrastructure or Kubernetes configuration. Tanzu detects languages and frameworks, builds containers with secure buildpacks, validates software bills of materials and manages ingress. Spring Boot applications receive Spring-specific observability and automated policy enforcement. A curated marketplace includes Tanzu RabbitMQ, Tanzu for Valkey, Tanzu for Postgres and Tanzu for MySQL. Brokered services span AWS, GCP and Azure, with partner tools such as GitLab and New Relic. The AI Gateway offers governed access to Anthropic, Gemini, OpenAI, Ollama, VMware Private AI service models and other OpenAI wire-format models. Agent foundations use deny-by-default sandboxes, isolated networks, credential storage, secure bindings and an MCP gateway. Tanzu is optimized for VMware Cloud Foundation, portable across cloud providers, and includes enterprise support and commercial Spring repositories.
