What it is
Thorium Reader is a free digital book reader and library for ebooks, audiobooks, comics, manga, and documents. It runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and iPadOS, with listed minimum versions including Windows 10, macOS 12 Monterey, Ubuntu 18.04, Fedora 32, Debian 10, and iOS/iPadOS 26. Supported material includes EPUB, fixed-layout EPUB, PDF, DAISY 2.02/3, Web Publications, audiobook formats such as MP3 and FLAC, and comics in CBZ, EPUB, or PDF. Readers can change text size, themes, and spacing, select from 10+ fonts, and use keyboard navigation with custom shortcuts. It opens DRM-free publications and Readium LCP-protected titles from compatible sources. Downloaded publications work offline, although an LCP-protected file needs an online connection at least once. Desktop users can add and browse OPDS catalogs, depending on each catalog provider's options. Accessibility support includes JAWS, NVDA, Narrator, and VoiceOver, with known VoiceOver limitations for EPUB and PDF reading on iOS. Thorium Reader is developed by EDRLab, a Paris-based non-profit development laboratory created in 2015.
