TESSA OER
What it is
TESSA OER is an education research and development project founded in 2005 that supports primary and secondary teachers across sub-Saharan Africa. Its open educational resources come in multiple language and country versions and connect to national curricula. The collection contains 90 subject-based modules: 75 structured units for primary education and 15 for secondary education. Modules include practical classroom activities, case-study examples, teacher resources, and guidance on learner-engagement strategies. Handbooks and toolkits help teachers and teacher educators use the materials. The resources support professional learning from initial teacher education through continuing development. Teachers and teacher educators can share adaptations in a dedicated space. Published under an open Creative Commons licence, the modular resources are free to use, adapt, and share. Materials are available online and offline in digital and printed formats. They can be used independently by practicing teachers or integrated into pre-service and in-service training. TESSA identifies teachers and people supporting teachers in colleges, universities, and local education offices as relevant users.
