SWAYAM
What it is
SWAYAM is an online course platform with offerings from school Class 9 through postgraduate study. Courses combine video lectures, reading materials that may be downloaded or printed, self-assessment tests and quizzes, and an online discussion forum. Anyone in the world can register for online courses, with no specific age or eligibility requirement stated. Some courses are self-paced and have no enrollment deadline, though offerings vary by semester and instructor availability. Course access is free. Learners seeking a certificate must register and pay a fee for a proctored exam held in person at a designated centre on a specified date; the fee varies by course and National Coordinator. Colleges and universities that approve credit transfer can use SWAYAM course marks or certificates for that purpose. Courses are offered through ten National Coordinators, including AICTE, NPTEL, UGC, CEC, NCERT, NIOS, IGNOU, IIMB, NITTTR, and INI. SWAYAM is available on the web and Android. Course content requires an active internet connection, although downloads may be available when faculty enables them. Learners can sign up using Microsoft or Google login.
