Stapy
What it is
Stapy is free, open-source software for generating static websites with Python. It runs on Linux and Windows, requires Python 3.6 or newer, and works without additional packages. A local preview server helps users view sites during development. Stapy writes generated files into environment directories under the web directory, including a production directory for publishing. Page data is stored in JSON files, and settings can merge with layouts at several levels. Templates support variables, included content, plugin methods, and reusable child blocks. Themes can inherit from parent themes, with individual files overriding inherited files. Python plugins can alter content or page data during rendering, handle HTTP requests, and add template methods. An official plugin provides a web editor at /_editor by default, with configurable media uploads. Documentation describes publishing through SFTP, Netlify, Cloudflare Pages, Vercel, and GitHub Pages. For shared remote use, it recommends htpasswd protection and safe mode.
