SSRN
What it is
SSRN is a free, web-based research platform for sharing early-stage work and connecting scholars across disciplines. Its multidisciplinary archive includes preprints, working papers, abstracts, gray literature, book reviews, multimedia files, datasets, and conference proceedings; almost all research is free to download. Advanced Search supports fuzzy and Boolean modes, searches titles, abstracts, keywords, full text, and authors, and provides date filters and sorting. Submitting a paper requires a free SSRN account and a PDF upload. SSRN says it intends to remain publisher-neutral and serve researchers across fields. It also says several commercial services—including Research Paper Series, Sponsored Networks and Site Subscriptions, paid Conference Proceedings, Data Analytics Dashboards, Partners in Publishing, Jobs and Announcements, and Data Feeds—are scheduled to close by the end of December 2026. Existing contracts continue through their term or December 31, 2026, whichever comes first, and discontinued-service content will remain archived and accessible.
