Speedscale
What it is
Speedscale is a hybrid software platform for API testing, load testing, and service virtualization using captured production traffic. It can capture and replay traffic in Kubernetes to check changes, and create mocks for unreliable or third-party dependencies using production-realistic responses. For load testing, it builds tests from captured traffic and measures latency and throughput against budgets; distributed load and stress testing are supported. Listed pipeline integrations include GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Google Cloud Deploy, AWS CodeBuild, Bitbucket Pipelines, TeamCity, and CircleCI, alongside connections such as GitHub Actions, k6, and Postman. The full stack can run inside a customer's AWS, GCP, or Azure account, keeping traffic within that VPC. Speedscale offers tools to redact sensitive data and says leaked sensitive data can be deleted retroactively. Its free proxymock tool provides unlimited local mocking, basic traffic recording, and a desktop CLI for macOS, Linux, and Windows.
For and against
For
- Replays captured Kubernetes traffic to validate changes
- Creates load tests from production traffic
- Supports distributed load and stress testing
- Free proxymock includes unlimited local mocking
- Full stack can run within a customer VPC
Against
- Browser-based testing is not supported
- IMAP capture is capture-only; mTLS support is partial
The verdict
Speedscale combines traffic replay, service virtualization, and load testing, with deployment options spanning local use and customer cloud accounts.
Who it suits
Speedscale suits teams testing cloud-native applications and APIs with production traffic, particularly those working with Kubernetes or CI/CD pipelines. Its local proxymock option may suit developers who want API mocking during local development.
