Sandboxie Plus
What it is
Sandboxie Plus is Windows software that runs applications inside isolated containers, preventing permanent changes to the underlying operating system. It supports controlled testing of untrusted programs and web surfing. The Plus and Classic editions use the same core components and isolation level, while Plus adds a modern Qt-based interface and features introduced after the project became open source. Snapshot Manager can restore a sandbox to a known state. Privacy-enhanced sandboxes hide locations that may contain personal data, and security-hardened settings limit syscall elevation and device access. Windows Filtering Platform support applies firewall rules per sandbox, while DNS filtering can block or redirect selected domains. Sandbox storage can use AES-based encryption; Sandbox Encryption requires the Advanced Feature Pack unless covered by an Eternal or Contributor certificate. Start menu and Windows 11 context-menu integration, portable mode, API or CLI access, and persistent storage are included. Stable downloads cover x64 and ARM64 Windows builds.
