Roq

What it is

Roq is a free, open-source static site generator built with Java and Quarkus for websites and blogs. It uses Markdown by default and can produce static files for GitHub Pages, Netlify, or another static server. Developers can work in a local preview server and use development mode with live reload. A browser-based WYSIWYG editor supports content editing and previewing during development. The default theme includes a blog layout, dark mode, sidebar navigation, responsive design, and social links. Plugins add support for AsciiDoc, tagging, search, diagrams, series, and sitemaps. Roq bundles CSS, JavaScript, and other web assets with esbuild, and npm packages can be used through mvnpm without Node.js. A GitHub Action supports publishing, and the publishing guide also documents GitLab CI. The CLI is installed through JBang on Linux, macOS, and Windows. Java is the supported language.
