RegSQL
What it is
RegSQL is a web SQL workspace combining browser-local formatting with optional AI tools. Formatting runs in a browser worker without an account or server round trip, adjusting whitespace and casing while leaving query logic, aliases, and comments unchanged. It supports PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, SQLite, BigQuery, SQL Server, Snowflake, and Oracle PL/SQL. Multi-statement input can be up to 1 MB, although stored procedures and unusual delimiter changes may not work. AI tools can generate SQL from a description, explain a query, or propose a repair. SQL, prompts, and schema text are sent to the AI provider only after choosing Generate, Explain, or Repair; the policy says these submissions are not stored in account, quota, analytics tables, or application logs. The Free plan is free, billed Forever, with unlimited local formatting and 20 AI requests monthly. Indie is $8 a month, or $72 billed yearly ($6/month).
For and against
For
- Local formatting needs no account
- Supports eight named SQL dialects
- AI can generate, explain, or repair
- Preserves query logic and comments
- Free plan includes unlimited formatting
Against
- Formatter does not validate database behavior
- Input limit is 1 MB
- Some procedures and delimiters may fail
- Indie payments unavailable for your account yet
The verdict
RegSQL combines local formatting with opt-in AI requests and clear SQL-handling disclosures. Its formatter is not a substitute for database validation, so users should verify queries elsewhere.
Who it suits
It suits independent developers who need local SQL formatting and optional AI assistance across several dialects. It is useful when browser-only formatting and explicit AI submission controls matter.
