Pigeon
What it is
Pigeon is a cloud-based platform for paywalls and subscription management for digital content. It supports hard, soft, metered, time-based, cookie, ads, newsletter and credits paywalls. Publishers can use it with WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, static-site generators and custom content-management systems; listed integrations also include HubSpot, Magento, Wix, Squarespace and several site frameworks. Pigeon provides subscriber and customer management, subscription and billing tools, and financial and engagement analytics. Its Theme Editor can change the appearance of paywalls, registration pages and user account pages, including logos and colors. Payment methods include Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and manual payments. Customers receive email support, documentation, regular check-ins and implementation support during setup. The Experiment plan is free and works as a demo, but does not allow transactions. The Publishers plan costs $99 a month, with a setup fee starting at $750 and 10% transaction fees. Enterprise costs $500 a month, with a setup fee starting at $2,500 and variable transaction fees. Pigeon says its technology blocks several metered-paywall bypass methods, but determined hackers using advanced tools may still get around the paywall.
