What it is
OpenFamily is a family-organizing app for shopping, tasks, calendars, budgets and recipes. Its 12 built-in modules synchronize in real time across devices, and families can use a hosted plan or run the software themselves. Shopping lists include categories, prices, quantities and reusable templates, with items that can be ticked off in real time. Calendar features include recurring and all-day appointments, up to five reminders per appointment, connections to Google, Outlook and iCloud calendars, and .ics imports. Weekly meal plans link to recipes, can import Tandoor plans and can be exported as PDF. Profiles can store each member’s health information, allergies, vaccines and emergency contacts. Push alerts cover appointments and tasks in each member’s language, including when the app is closed. Integrations include Mealie, Tandoor, Home Assistant, Grocy and Nextcloud. Self-hosting is free; Docker Compose is available, while Windows has an all-in-one installer and Android is distributed as an APK. OpenFamily Cloud costs €3.90/month per family and includes automatic updates and backups. OpenFamily is built by NexaFlow France and licensed under AGPL-3.0.
