OhMyIcon
South Korea
What it is
OhMyIcon generates favicon packages and iOS and Android app icons in a browser. A favicon package can include ICO and PNG files in multiple resolutions, Apple and Android icons, a Windows tile, starter manifest files, and HTML meta tags. The site also lists image, text, and emoji favicon generators, an app icon generator, a favicon checker, and image utilities. The app icon generator produces 12 iOS sizes and six Android sizes, including a 1024-pixel App Store icon and a 512-pixel Play Store icon. Image generation and processing use the browser’s Canvas API, and source images are not uploaded to OhMyIcon’s servers. The checker is an exception: it retrieves the public HTML head of an entered URL and may use a public CORS proxy. The service is free, needs no signup, and has no usage limits. It works in modern Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari on desktop and mobile, and can work offline after loading. The image favicon tool accepts PNG, JPG, SVG, and WebP uploads up to 25 MB.
For and against
For
- Free plan with no signup or usage limits
- Creates 12 iOS and six Android icon sizes
- Processes source images in the browser
- Works offline once loaded
Against
- Does not export SVG files
- Does not generate Android adaptive icon layers
- Batch processing is not available
- Checker may use a public CORS proxy
The verdict
OhMyIcon covers favicon packages and app icon output in one browser-based toolset, with source images kept off its servers during image generation. Note that its checker handles URLs differently, and the app icon generator does not create Android adaptive icon layers.
Who it suits
It suits people creating web favicons or app icon sets who want browser-based tools and local image processing. App developers can place generated output in Xcode’s AppIcon.appiconset or Android mipmap resource folders.
