What it is
NVIDIA FrameView is a free Windows utility for measuring graphics performance, power use, and performance per watt. It records frame rates and frame times, and can capture PC latency alongside FPS without additional hardware. A configurable overlay shows live metrics, while benchmark results are saved to log files. FrameView uses PresentMon for analytics and supports single-GPU systems using NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel graphics with DirectX 9–12, OpenGL, and Vulkan. It works with Universal Windows Platform apps and full-screen or windowed applications. NVIDIA GPUs provide chip and board power measurements; AMD GPUs provide chip power only, and accurate AMD power measurement requires PCAT or another interposer setup. Windows 10 and above are supported. DX9 and DX10 games do not show the overlay, though data is logged. Battlefield 6 anticheat also blocks the overlay, and redesigned overlay features require Multi-Plane Overlay support.
For and against
For
- Free download for Windows 10 and above
- Captures PC latency alongside FPS
- Supports NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel single-GPU systems
- Logs benchmark results
- Supports DirectX, OpenGL, and Vulkan
Against
- DX9 and DX10 games lack the overlay
- AMD power measurement needs PCAT or interposer hardware
- Battlefield 6 anticheat blocks the overlay
- MPO may be required for redesigned overlay
The verdict
FrameView provides broad graphics metrics with live overlays and logged benchmark data at no cost. Overlay availability and AMD power-measurement requirements vary by game and hardware.
Who it suits
FrameView suits Windows users who need frame-rate, latency, power, and performance-per-watt measurements across supported graphics configurations. It is useful for both full-screen and windowed applications.
