MPLAB X IDE
MPLAB X IDE · Chandler, Arizona, USA · founded 1989
What it is
MPLAB X IDE is a free development environment for discovering, configuring, building, debugging, and qualifying embedded designs for most Microchip microcontrollers and digital signal controllers. It supports PIC, dsPIC, AVR, SAM, PIC32, and other Microchip MCU, DSC, and MPU families, and runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux. During debugging, I/O View lets developers inspect and manipulate target registers. A single action can build a project, connect to a hardware tool, program the target, and start debugging or execution. Data Visualizer displays real-time streaming data, while the IDE also includes MPLAB Integrated Programming Environment for production programming. Compiler support includes open-source AVR and SAM MCU GCC, as well as MPLAB XC compilers. Projects and tools such as Code Configurator and Data Visualizer are also supported in Microsoft Visual Studio Code. The IDE includes three source-control configuration options and a plug-in manager. Version 6.35 is listed for the three desktop platforms. It requires a 64-bit Intel or AMD processor, or Arm-based Apple silicon.
