What it is
Mixxx is DJ software for performing live mixes with digital music files. It runs on Linux, macOS and Windows, and supports people starting with a laptop as well as experienced turntablists. Four decks provide scratchable scrolling waveforms and whole-song overview waveforms. Mixing tools include beat looping, Sync Lock, hotcues, beat rolls, censor and quantization. The software plays FLAC, WAV, AIFF, MP3, M4A/AAC, Ogg Vorbis and Opus files. DJs can use MIDI and HID controllers with programmable JavaScript mappings or timecode vinyl control, and load as many as 64 sampler decks. Mixxx reads local libraries from iTunes, Traktor, Banshee, Rekordbox, Rhythmbox and Serato. It can record mixes in WAV, FLAC, Ogg Vorbis and optionally MP3, and stream through Shoutcast or Icecast servers. The application requires no account and collects no user data during use. Its source code is released under GNU GPL v2 or later. The full version is free, with donations optional; beta and development snapshots may crash and are not intended for live use.
