MetroGnome
What it is
MetroGnome combines a metronome, rhythm-pattern editor and instrument tuner in an app for iPhone and iPad. The metronome covers 20–300 BPM, with customizable meters, subdivisions, tap tempo and nine synthesized tick sounds. Users can change each beat's accent live among strong, medium, normal and silent. For flamenco practice, the app includes eleven palos with traditional accent cycles that can be edited during playback. The pattern editor supports unlimited measures, mixed time signatures, rests, tuplets, repeats, tempo changes and real staff notation. The tuner covers 60 instrument tunings across five families, plus a chromatic Any Note mode and 16 historical reference pitches, including Baroque A=415 and Verdi's A=432. The metronome, editor and tuner run on-device and work offline without an account or login. Playback continues with the screen locked or while another app is in use. The maker says tuner audio is analyzed in memory on-device and is not recorded, stored or transmitted. MetroGnome requires iOS 17 or later; Android is coming soon. The free plan is ad-supported, and a one-time $4.99 purchase removes banner and interstitial ads.
