memedit
What it is
memedit is a free, open-source command-line memory scanner and editor for offline, single-player Windows games. It attaches to a running process, scans for a value visible in the game, narrows possible addresses as that value changes, and can write a replacement value. Supported scan types are int32, uint32, int64, float32, and float64, with int32 as the default. Interactive commands cover initial and repeated scans, changed or unchanged comparisons, candidate listing, counting, value writes, reset, help, and quitting. Candidates and previous values remain in memory during the session and disappear when the program quits. Scan controls include alignment, parallel workers, chunk settings, and file-mapped memory regions. Common values such as 0 or 1 can match millions of addresses and use substantial memory, prompting before scanning unless --yes is used. The Windows/amd64 binary attaches to 64-bit processes. Most game processes require Administrator rights through UAC unless --no-elevate is used. The MIT-licensed Go project requires Go 1.27.1 or later to build.
For and against
For
- Free and open source
- Supports five scan value types
- Interactive scan and write commands
- Configurable alignment and worker settings
- MIT License permits modification and distribution
Against
- Windows/amd64 and 64-bit processes only
- Most processes require Administrator rights
- No pointer scanning, debugger, or scripting support
- Writes occur without confirmation
The verdict
memedit provides focused scanning and editing for offline, single-player 64-bit Windows games. Use care when selecting addresses, and avoid multiplayer titles protected by anti-cheat systems.
Who it suits
memedit is intended for people learning memory scanning or changing values in offline, single-player Windows games. It is not intended for multiplayer games protected by anti-cheat systems.
