LitMap
What it is
LitMap is a beta web tool for students and researchers organizing literature reviews from uploaded papers. It extracts claims, methods, findings, definitions, and limitations from PDFs, and users can edit the extracted content. Papers are clustered by semantic similarity on a visual canvas that can be rearranged. LitMap surfaces disagreements with side-by-side quotations and lets users mark them resolved or unresolved. A gap finder identifies missing populations, methods, or timeframes. Users can arrange themes and papers into an outline, then export notes with citations as Markdown, CSV, or JSON. LitMap does not generate literature-review prose or paraphrase sources. The site says it works offline, keeps data in the browser, and requires no account. The Free plan costs nothing and allows five projects with 50 papers per project. Student costs €5 a month and includes 10 projects with 100 papers per project, while Academic costs €25 a month with unlimited projects and 500 papers per project. Student support is by email; Academic includes priority support.
