Lighthouse
What it is
Lighthouse combines decentralized file storage with a long-term memory service for AI agents. Memory saves project context, preferences, and decisions for later retrieval through remember, recall, and forget operations. Memories are content-addressed blobs, and the batched engine uses embeddings with keyword or tag matching for local hybrid recall. A hosted backend exposes tools through the Model Context Protocol for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, and other MCP-capable agents. File storage uses IPFS, with Filecoin and Walrus listed as networks; the web app supports storing, retrieving, and sharing files across them. Developers can connect storage through an SDK and CLI. Documented memory storage choices include Lighthouse Walrus, Lighthouse IPFS/Filecoin, AWS S3, R2, MinIO, and a local folder. The Free plan costs nothing for 5 GB and 10,000 AI memories. Lite costs $12 a month for 500 GB and 25,000 memories; Premium costs $49 a month for 2.5 TB and 100,000 memories.
For and against
For
- Provides long-term memory operations for agents
- Supports IPFS, Filecoin, and Walrus storage
- Offers SDK and CLI integration tools
- Free plan includes 5 GB storage
- MCP backend supports Claude agents
Against
- Stored blobs may remain after forgetting memories
- Some batched memory data is unencrypted
- Encryption and token gating are add-ons
- Content identifiers do not prove truth
The verdict
Lighthouse pairs agent memory features with distributed file storage and developer integration tools. Its free and paid plans differ by storage and memory allowances, while several security features cost extra.
Who it suits
It suits developers building AI-agent memory or applications using distributed file storage. The web app also serves users who need to store, retrieve, and share files on listed networks.
